Privacy Policy
Who I am
I’m Michael Hirschkorn, trading as Therapy with Mike. I’m the data controller for the information described here.
You can contact me at hello@therapywithmike.co.uk, or by post at 33 Friern Mount Drive, London N20 9DJ.
This policy covers visitors to this website and people who get in touch with me. If we start working together, I’ll give you a separate privacy notice that covers how I look after your therapy records.
What information I collect
-
When you contact me: your name, email address, phone number and anything you choose to put in your message. This applies to the contact form, email, phone, text and WhatsApp.
-
When you visit the site: basic technical information, such as your device and browser and which pages you view, collected through cookies. Cookies that aren’t essential only run if you accept them.
Please don’t include sensitive details about your health or personal life when you first get in touch. We can talk about those during your free chat or in session.
Why I use it, and my legal basis
-
To reply to your enquiry and arrange a first chat: this is a legitimate interest, and a step you’ve asked me to take before we agree to work together.
-
To understand how the site is used, if I switch on analytics: only with your consent.
-
To keep accounts and meet tax rules, if you become a client: a legal obligation.
-
If you do share health information in an enquiry, I treat it as sensitive and handle it on the basis of your consent.
I don’t sell your information and I don’t send marketing emails.
Who I share it with
-
I use a small number of trusted services to run my practice. They process your information on my behalf:
-
Wix, which hosts this website and its contact form
-
Google Workspace, for email, and Google Analytics
-
WhatsApp Business (Meta), for messaging
-
Zoho Books, for invoicing and accounts, if you become a client
Some of these providers store information outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK data protection law.
I won’t share your details with anyone else unless I’m legally required to, or someone is at serious risk of harm.
How long I keep it
-
Enquiries that don’t lead to sessions: 12 months, then I delete them.
-
Financial records: for as long as HMRC requires.
-
Therapy records: covered in the privacy notice I give you at the start of therapy.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information I hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, limit how I use it, or object to my using it. If I rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email me and I’ll reply within one month.
Cookies
This site uses cookies that are essential for it to work. With your consent, it may also use cookies for analytics. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings on the site.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113). If your concern is about my professional conduct, you can contact the BACP.
